Crossroads

Two people stood by, explorers before a crossroads.

They travelled together, but not anymore

Three paths stood, two choices they had. The safe, the Guided, the adventure.

Would they choose together, or part ways, hoping to be joined again?

The safest choice, the logical one, to their right with an end in sight. It might not give them happiness, but peace it might. To the turbulence in their minds, would that be reason enough?

The guided, ruled by mind and heart, the heart’s desire, the near impossible want. Long and covered, not used, barely tread. Maybe a cliff to dive, or a mountain to conquer? a sight to behold or to make cower?

The adventure, one well used. By others automatically taken, choosing a life unknown. Both knew the road, well travelled. Both found something, new each time but never was it the end.

Two people stood by, explorers before crossroads.

Would they travel together?

Or for never more?
